Chief Warrant Officer Hideki Miura was the Cybersystems Operator on Lexington and his room was 3C. According to the protagonist he was an odd duck of the first magnitude and could program a hair dryer to brew coffee.

He was one old school hacker. Like everyone else he learned in elementary school, but continued to love "close to the machine" programming (used low-level graphical editors), and on Lexington he had a printed source code in that calculates the number π; he also has a π-shaped pendant in his room. He admired the Cyberpunk Era of early 2020s and interested in the Concord, Starhome and the Epsilon Indi System. He advised Mary Quan to keep a paper diary for security.

In order to keep others outside the Cybersystems room and mess with the central computer, he coded it with the 4 first digits of π; he left a voice note prompting them to talk with him if they had a job there. The protagonist used to beg Hideki to let him sit in his "throne".

Captain Steven Dayna wanted him to reprogram the autodoc with some 'panic button', Miura fixed it so that keying in '911' on its remote control, the treatment unit would automatically stun anybody within 3 meters. He taped a paper note to Michael Dahl's desk in the Medlab, wondering if he was going to work with some ET specimen during their mission.
